Deleting Your Account
We're sorry to see you go. If you've decided to delete your Quixli account, this guide explains exactly what happens to your data, what steps to take before deletion, and how the process works — including the 30-day grace period that lets you change your mind.
This Action Is Permanent
After the 30-day grace period, account deletion is irreversible. All your pages, collections, shared links, comments, and profile data will be permanently erased with no possibility of recovery.
What Gets Deleted
When your account is permanently deleted (after the grace period), the following data is removed:
- All your pages and collections: Every page you created, including their content, version history, and metadata
- Shared links and permissions: All active share links for your content stop working. Collaborators lose access to your shared pages and collections
- Comments and feedback: Comments you've left on other people's pages are removed. Your name is replaced with "Deleted User" in comment threads
- Profile information: Your name, photo, bio, and social links are erased
- Uploaded files: All images, documents, and media files you've uploaded are deleted from storage
- Billing history: Payment records are retained for 90 days after deletion for legal and tax purposes, then permanently removed
- Analytics data: View counts, engagement metrics, and audience data for your pages are deleted
What Is NOT Deleted
Some data persists even after account deletion:
- Pages transferred to others: If you transfer ownership of a page or collection to another user before deleting, they retain full access
- Exported content: Any content you've exported (PDF, Markdown, etc.) remains on your local device
- Content copied by collaborators: If someone with edit access copied your content into their own pages, those copies are not affected
Before You Delete: Checklist
Before initiating account deletion, take care of these important steps:
- Export your content: Download any pages or collections you want to keep. Use the export feature (PDF, Markdown, or ZIP bundle) to save your work locally
- Transfer ownership: If other people depend on pages or collections you own, transfer ownership to them. Go to the page settings > "Transfer Ownership" and enter the new owner's email
- Cancel active subscriptions: If you're on a paid plan, cancel your subscription first to avoid being charged during the grace period. Go to Settings > Billing > Cancel Subscription
- Save billing records: Download any invoices you need for tax or expense reporting. After deletion, billing history is eventually removed
- Notify collaborators: Let people who share your pages know that the content will become unavailable. Give them time to make copies of anything they need
- Disconnect integrations: Revoke access for any connected third-party services (Google Drive, Slack, GitHub). While deleting your account disables integrations automatically, revoking access from the third-party side is good security practice
How to Delete Your Account
When you're ready to proceed:
- Go to Settings > Account
- Scroll to the "Danger Zone" section at the bottom of the page
- Click "Delete Account"
- Enter your password to confirm your identity
- Type "DELETE" in the confirmation field to confirm you understand the consequences
- Click "Permanently Delete Account" to initiate the deletion
Your account immediately enters the 30-day grace period.
The 30-Day Grace Period
After initiating deletion, your account enters a 30-day grace period before permanent removal:
- During the grace period: Your account is deactivated — you can't log in, shared links stop working, and collaborators lose access to your content. However, your data is still preserved on our servers
- To restore your account: Simply attempt to log in with your email and password during the grace period. You'll see a "Your account is scheduled for deletion" message with a "Cancel Deletion" button. Click it, and your account is fully restored with all data intact
- After 30 days: If you don't cancel the deletion, your data is permanently and irreversibly removed from all Quixli systems, including backups
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I create a new account with the same email after deletion?
Yes. After the 30-day grace period and permanent deletion, your email address is released and can be used to create a new Quixli account. The new account will start fresh with no connection to your previous data.
What if I'm the only admin of a team workspace?
You must transfer the workspace admin role to another team member before deleting your account. Quixli will prevent deletion if you're the sole admin of an active workspace — you'll see an error message with instructions to transfer admin rights first.
Can Quixli staff recover my data after permanent deletion?
No. After the 30-day grace period, all data is permanently purged from our production systems and backups. Our support team cannot recover deleted accounts or data under any circumstances.
